Heber's most recognizable songs in the country

Heber's live performance

Heber Bartolome: Reyn’s Composer of new Tagalog single

Ilonggo RnB artist, Reyn Callao has an upcoming Tagalog single entitled “Walang Kuwentang Babae” and he is in Manila right now recording several tracks. He is excited to release it but the tracks are still in the early stage of editing and arrangement. Still, he is very proud to work with a credible and talented Filipino composer Heber Bartolome who is one of the country’s recognizable musicmakers. His songs are all composed by Heber Bartolome and is happy working with this rising RnB artist. We browse the internet and found this informative profile of Heber Bartolome courtesy of Wikipedia.com:

Heber Gonzalez Bartolome (born on November 4, 1948) is a Filipino folk and folk rock singer, songwriter, composer, poet, guitarist, bandurria player, bluesman, and painter. His music was influenced by the “stylistic tradition” of Philippine folk and religious melodies. He was the founder of Banyuhay, a "protest band" that carried the trademark sound of the kubing, a native musical instrument in the Philippines. His compositions were described as a “unique synthesis of rock and blues, and Philippine ethnic rhythms”. Bartolome’s song “Nena” became a hit in 1977. His “Tayo’y Mga Pinoy” (We’re Filipinos) was a finalist during the 1978 first Metro Manila Popular Music Festival.

Bartolome was born in Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija, Philippines to Deogracias Bartolome and Angelina Gonzalez. Deogracias Bartolome was a pastor and violin and guitar maker, and a rondalla band leader while Angelina Gonzalez was a singer in the zarzuela. During his school days, Heber Bartolome was a member of the ROTC Band and the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus. Bartolome started his professional career in music in folk houses during the late 1960s. In 1973, Bartolome obtained the degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines. He was a professor of Filipino Literature at the De La Salle University from 1981 to 1984. As a musician, he held performances throughout the Philippines. Abroad, he staged concerts in Australia and Europe. In 1993, he launched “Mga Awit ni Heber” (Heber’s Songs), a collection of Bartolome's greatest songs. Apart from being a musician, Bartolome also exhibited artworks and was an active lobbyist for the rights of Filipino composers. He was the founder of the UP Astrology Society back in 1974 which also went nationwide.

Bartolome’s famous songs include “Pasahero” or ‘passenger’ (1977), “Almusal” or ‘breakfast’, “Inutil na Gising” or ‘an awake fool’ (1985), and “Karaniwang Tao” or ‘ordinary person’ (1985). He was the songwriter of the tune for Bulwagang Gantimpala’s “Ibong Adarna”, a 1989 musical drama with a libretto written by Rene O. Villanueva. Bartolome was a former member and trustee of the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP), an organization in the Philippines responsible for collecting royalties for its members after holding public performances and for songs used on television and radio broadcast, movies and the like FILSCAP's responsibility of royalty collecting extends to members of foreign affiliates such as the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (Ascap), Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH), and more than fifty other organizations.

Reynatics are here!

Reyn reigns in itravel Philippines TV Launching at SM City Iloilo

Reyn Callao proved everything he’s got with his music in the launching of itravel Philippines magazine and TV program last May 20, 2010 at SM City Iloilo. Everything he did for the past two months since his first breakout debut single “Seryoso” leads to his fantastic performance in Iloilo City’s most-loved supermall- SM City Iloilo.

Reyn collaborated with Ilonggo’s prince of rap, Bronze P. for the original theme song of itravel Philippines entitled “Travel with Us.” The lyrics of their tourism-inspired song was penned by rslphoenix and Bronze P who also added rap verse which made the song upbeat, catchy, and something that will make you dance. The opening number of the event was a glitzy performance from the two music artists singing the dance beat version of “Travel with Us” while itravel models simultaneously stunned the audience with their fantastic fashion parade wearing clothes by Salad Dressing and holding a copy of itravel Philippines magazine. Later, Reyn sang for the first time his second solo single “Bahala Ka Na” which will be released in local FM stations later this May and his first single “Seryoso.”

Finally, the crowd was surprise when Reyn and Bronze came back in front to perform the ballad version of “Travel with Us” while Ilonggo designer Ram Silva flaunted his stunning black collection designs worn by itravel models. Truly it was an afternoon of great Ilonggo music, fashion, tourism and good news for itravel Philippines magazine readers because they will be taking glimpse of the best of tourism in their TV screen soon.

For Reyn Callao, he is grateful to have this chance to perform live, share his music, and work with the best and most talented Ilonggos such as Bronze P, Sheila Barrios, Nazty Dee, and his artistic photographer friend, Jose de Luna. Many thanks also to his sponsors Beauty Dynamics, Shana Lacs Spa, SM City Iloilo, and Camella Communities Iloilo.

In the coming weeks, you can request for his two new songs on air---“Travel with Us” with Bronze P. and “Bahala Ka Na.”

R mark the spot

Reyn spotted at Ilonggo.net

Reyn was spotted by a prolific blogger who blogs everything from culture, music, places, and a lot more. It started when Reyn tagged this blogger via facebook with one of his notes. For almost a month that Reyn released his single “Seryoso” in Iloilo’s local FM stations and his other media exposures including a full-page press releases in Panay News, The News Today, and The Daily Guardian sponsored by Camella Iloilo plus a live performance in Arangakada morning show of GMA TV-6, this young Ilonggo RnB singer achieved so much.

Though locally released, he is very optimistic and thankful that a lot of people appreciate his love for music and singing. He is also thankful for those who continue to visit his webpage, watch his music videos in youtube, and those who search his name in google.com or yahoo.com. rslphoenix music has a lot of good stuff prepared for Reyn this year and these are part of elevating Ilonggo-made music. Not to mention his supportive sponsors, Reyn enjoyed endorsing them one by one here in his webpage. The debut of Reyn’s final music video for “Seryoso” will happen in his very own youtube channel this month. So better watch out for it.

Anyway, here’s the statement that www.Ilonggo.net wrote about Reyn Callao:

"I was intrigued when I got tagged in Facebook this morning about an ilonggo RnB singer. Personally, I would have preferred his music with original beats and musical arrangement. Nonetheless, I wish him great success in his musical career.'"
