Reyn’s “Seryoso” debuts at Star FM Iloilo

“Seryoso,” the first single of Reyn Callao, an upcoming Ilonggo pop singer was released this week at Star FM Iloilo with much interest from the station’s DJs for its fresh and upbeat tune. Though inspired by the tune of Chris Brown’s song, “Seryoso” happens to be Reyn’s favourite song that he reinvented with new lyrics written in Ilonggo almost two years ago. It was intentionally written for a special performance in a debut party of his friend where Reyn first sang this song. Most of his friends got mesmerized with the song that they keep requesting him to sing the same song for various events and affairs.

Artistic fulfilment and passion is what Reyn thought when he wrote this song. His romantic nature can be felt in the lyrics and his gift for singing perfectly fits in the song to easily catch the attention of whoever hear him singing. When he sings this song live, people easily noticed his charisma (and don’t forget the young girls, too, who admire his boy-next-door appeal). Reyn used to dream that his song will be recorded and played on the radio more than a year ago. Though people come to him and say how good this song is, there was never a chance that it was recorded. But he goes on singing and tirelessly pushed through with his passion. After all, a born musician and singer consider singing as a way of expression more than anything else.

This March 2010, Reyn finally caught the ear of one member of rslphoenix music, a team of independent music artists who is passionate in promoting Ilonggo music. Upon hearing him singing live for an event, they contacted him and immediately offered an opportunity to record it. They headed to an independent local recording studio to finally set his little dream into reality. With less than an hour of rehearsal and practice, Reyn finally recorded the song. What came up next is a smooth flow of editing and backing vocals for his song.

“Seryoso” is a fusion of RnB music with a pinch of romance, teen love and upbeat tune that will surely capture the ear of listeners. The next thing you know upon hearing the song is the tendency to hum and get hooked to the tune. Reyn remained grateful to all his friends and early fans in their community who heard the song many times. Now, they get the chance to hear it on the radio and hopefully more and more Ilonggos will appreciate his artistry as a rising pop singer. He’s hoping he can show more of his talent for music as time goes on. He’s not in a hurry. In fact, he’s willing to take it one step at a time.

In the coming posts, Reyn will reveal the lyrics of “Seryoso.” He aspires that Ilonggos especially the youth will learn to appreciate our own local music and learn not to be ashamed of it.
